I am still trying to recover from the fact that I now have an 18 year old. Yes, Brant turned 18 last week. This picture of him is kindof how I felt when it hit me that he is now an adult. How in the heck did that happen? I am not old enough and definitely not mature enough to have a child that is now officially an adult. And what's really crazy is that he thinks that now that he is 18 the rules have all changed. One night he has to ask permission to go somewhere and the next night he can do whatever he wants??? I don't think so.
Actually, Brant is a great kid and I couldn't have asked for a better teenager for my practice model. Yes, the oldest child gets to be the pilot study, the practice experiment, the learning lab. etc. Sorry Brant, but that is just how it goes. But I really am proud of Brant, he has chosen good friends, does well in school, and helps out with his siblings a ton. And while I am at it, just a little bit of bragging about Brant. He got a 31 on the ACT and this last spring he took 3 AP tests. He scored 4 on 2 tests and 5 on his History test, this earned him 18 credits. Not bad for hardly any studying. He should be a college junior by the time he graduates from High School. Just goes to show that some kids will do great no matter what kind of parents they have.
